Polyaspartic polyurea is a new kind of synthetic material in the polyurea industry in recent years. It has weather resistance, slow reaction, no solvent, and high mechanical properties and is called the third-generation polyurea. The two components of Polyaspartic polyurea are polyaspartic polyurea resin and isocyanate hardener, respectively. The material has been widely applied and promoted in the coating field, including fan blade coating, construction machinery coating, waterproof roof coating, and high-end floor coating. The application of polyaspartic polyurea material in the adhesive field is one of the application directions we are focusing on.
The adhesion of polyurea to different substrates is very different. PVC, ABS, plain iron, wood, stone, and glass bonding are relatively straightforward, while PP, PE, aluminum, and stainless-steel substrate adhesion are relatively poor. It is necessary to improve the bonding properties by optimizing the glue formulation.
Compared with epoxy adhesive, polyaspartic adhesive has many obvious advantages. Within five days of the UVA test, Polyaspartic adhesive resisted yellowing, but epoxy adhesive had already yellowed. Due to no VOC, polyaspartic polyurea is acknowledged as environmentally friendly. Additionally, polyaspartic bond has a higher curing speed than epoxy adhesive, which could lead to fast construction efficiency.
Polyaspartic polyurea is not a specific material but a relatively large category of materials collectively. We can obtain materials with unique properties and characteristics by selecting different polyaspartic polyurea resins and isocyanate hardeners. The performance span can be vast so that polyaspartic polyurea products can be designed in various directions.
