3. Solubility / thinnability
Desmodur® N 3900 is compatible with the following solvents: ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, PMA, acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, methyl isobutyl ketone, cyclohexanone, toluene, xylene, solvent naphtha® 100 and mixtures thereof. Aliphatic hydrocarbons are not suitable as solvents.
Desmodur® N 3900 should not be thinned below a solids content of 40 % by wt. Prolonged solution storage with a lower solids content may result in turbidity and sedimentation.
4. Compatibility
Desmodur® N 3900 can be mixed with the following Desmodur® and Desmophen® products: Desmodur® N 75, N 100, N 3200, N 3300, N 3390, N 3400, N 3600, and Z 4470;
most polyester-based Desmophen® products such as Desmophen® 670, 680, VP LS 2971, VP LS 2089, VP LS 2107, and with polyacrylates. It is incompatible with Desmophen® 650 and 651.
5.Properties / Applications
Desmodur® N 3900 is used to formulate high-solids systems for automotive refinishing, transportation coating, and plastics coating.
6. Storage
- Storage in original sealed Covestro container.
- Recommended storage temperature: 10 - 30 °C.
- Protect from moisture, heat, and foreign material.
General information: The product is sensitive to moisture and should therefore be stored in tightly sealed containers. Storage at elevated temperatures will lead to an increase in viscosity and a reduction of the NCO content.
